Poinsett Bridge Travelers Rest SC
Poinsett Bridge
This bridge was built in the early 1800s by slaves and captured Cherokee indians. It is located about 15 miles north of Greenville SC on
Callahan Mountain Rd. The Bridge and road was the only way to get from Asheville NC to Charleston SC. Rumors surrounding this bridge involve stories of murder, torture, brutal beatings of slaves and cherokee slaves, hangings and hauntings. One of the things mentioned is an apparition of a slave that was hung under the archway and has been seen by some people at night.Another story is of a woman waiting to meet her boyfriend to elope but he never showed up, she killed herself. We investigated this site and had various events happen, a mist appeared in front of the camera seen in the photos below.
There were fox-fire lights by the water which are small pinhead size orbs of different colors. We caught EVPs that answered questions and one male that said "Hungry". We were there for about five hours and this place didn't disappoint us. Definately worth a visit and we plan to return for another investigation.
